At fifty-six years of age I have a little girl named Diana, so, hello, I’m Diana’s dad! I’ve been writing for the past ten years and have finished a novel, the Summer Trip and have two novels in the works, The Birch Lane Chronicles and Celestial Navigation. I began to write about Diana as soon as she was born and I began to realize that not all of it was just for me, and maybe some of it needed to be out in the world. So The Field Guide to Raising a North American Girl has come to be, and it’s a blog, and I hope yo enjoy it and will comment and give me feedback, thanks!
I work as an engraver in San Francisco California. I once was a Cub scout, then a Boy Scout and much later a leader in both organizations, and now that girls are being fully integrated in Scouting I suspect I’ll be leading again!
Divorced ten years I have three adult children, all of which I tried to give them nature in their lives; we camped, hiked, sailed, played soccer, did archery, some hunting and fishing, and really had some great times.
- I’m going to tell you about these times and more from my youth.
- I’m being deliberate about doing this with Diana, and I’ll share what works and what dosen’t.
- I’ll make other writing available to you as it is ready.
- And man, I hope we all have some fun!

I hope you will be Diana’s scout leader! She deserves what her older siblings had, too. I’m so glad you plan to make that effort with her.
